چکیده

The physiological factors which determine the penetration of the brain by 2-deoxy-D-glucose have been studied and the practical importance of the blood-brain barrier has been demonstrated. The evaluation of the gastric secretory response to 2-deoxy-D-glucose has been shown to depend upon the plasma glucose concentration. It is concluded that because of the hazards and uncertainties in the use of 2-deoxy-D-glucose in man its use is to be deprecated.

Nesfatin-1 inhibits gastric acid secretion via a central vagal mechanism in rats.

Nesfatin-1, a novel hypothalamic peptide, inhibits nocturnal feeding behavior and gastrointestinal motility in rodents. The effects of nesfatin-1 on gastrointestinal secretory function, including gastric acid production, have not been evaluated. Nesfatin-1 was injected into the fourth intracerebral ventricle (4V) of chronically cannulated rats to identify a nesfatin dose sufficient to inhibit f...

Positive modulation of pepsinogen secretion by gastric acidity after vagal cholinergic stimulation.

Parallel increments of gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion generally occur after the application of cholinergic stimuli. However, it still remains to be established whether the changes in acid output associated with cholinergic stimulation play a role in regulation of the concomitant peptic secretory activity. In the present study, an anesthetized rat model was used for the evaluation of peps...

Effect of D-glucose injection into ventromedial and lateral nuclei of hypothalamus on pentagastrin-induced gastric secretion in rat

It has been shown that those factors which affect gastric acid secretion through the ventromedial and lateral nuclei of hypothalamus, can significantly alter centrally-mediated secretion. There is much evidence that glucose is among these factors that through a central mechanism can decrease induced acid secretion. It appears that this effect is mediated through glucose-sensitive neurons within...

An assessment of the reproducibility and safety of 2-deoxy-D-glucose as a gastric acid stimulant in duodenal ulcer patients.

In studying the effects of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) on the vagus nerve in preoperative patients with duodenal ulcer we have concluded that (1) in initiating gastric acid secretion 2-DG produces a response that is reproducible after 30 days; (2) 2-DG when given in a dose of 40 mg/kg intravenously produces a glucopenic state that appears safe in an otherwise healthy patient. We consider that 2-DG...
